Funny story

Ok so I posted this story on facebook but hadn't gotten around to posting it on here, I figured I should hurry up and do it before I forget any part of it. :)

Setting: It's a Sunday afternoon/evening, we just finished dinner and Rush and I are sitting in the living room with the girls letting them play some more before we start getting them ready for bed. Rush then makes a startling discovery...

Rush: Why doesn't that baby have a diaper on? (refering to Adalyn)

Me: I don't know?!?

Rush: Did she take it off somewhere?

Me: *looking around the livingroom* Did you forget to put one on her?!?

Rush: I'm pretty sure I put one on her...

Me: How many diapers did you bring out here because I see two unused ones right here.

Rush: Oh.

Me: You're cleaning up any pee spots. (And of course I am the one who finds it by stepping in it.)

Side note: they were still in their church dresses so you coudn't really tell she didn't have a diaper on (which is why she went so long without one.) And before you give Rush any flack, looking back I know why (and when) he forgot to put a diaper on her, it was because I was teasing him about something (remember childhood flirting?!) while he was finishing up changing her VERY DIRTY diaper! SO that said, I am very grateful for Rush being so helpful with diapers, even the ones that make you gag, and at least it was only pee. Either way I still think it's a funny story. :)

10 & 11 Months post 2 of ?

Well, where was I? I do believe we were looking at the lovely hole that the girls' put in our ottaman. BUT we're going to wait on that, it'll come just not first. ;)

Babies are very flexible! I can't imagine falling asleep in this position! I think it's just so cute when they fall asleep sitting up and end up like this. I always move their legs so that they are more comfortable. :)
Since we had a picture (or four) of the girls playing with Ruff through the window, I thought I'd trow one of Lillie in too! :)
My Mom was getting rid of a lot of her older Christmas decorations, so while we were going through it all the girls had fun playing in it. (In all honesty I think we had more fun watching them wear the antlers!)
For reference Adalyn is wearing the "baby size" antlers...
Reagan was pretending to be one of Santa's elves
Makes you just want to squeeze those cheeks!
"Momma, can I have antlers too?"
 SURE!!! :)
Checking out each other's head gear
I think they were having as much fun as we were! Goofy girls (the apples don't fall far from the tree!)
Is this not the CUTEST cheesy grin! Love it!
She's getting better at hamming it up for the camera.
Rush and Quinn helped hang ornaments on our tree, and I only had to "rearrange" a few! ;) BTW I expect y'all back to decorate the tree again next year.
Sort of random but the girls just love to hit things together especially the colorful balls that go with the jungle toy behind her.
AH! Another shot of the hole getting bigger...
Something I've decided to do for Christmas is to make a new ornament each year. This year I made pinecones out of a foam egg and scrapbook paper! I like the way they came out.
 Pinecone #2
Bath time! :) For the most part the girls love playing in their bath. By far their favorite bath toy is their rubber duckys. They are constantly taking them from each other!
Sunday morning playing before church :) (Reagan is standing)
Love playing with the tunnel!
Let's just say that without help or a distraction (i.e. Rush) getting their 10 month picture didn't happen. These two were the best I could get.
SO not happy that I layed her down, AGAIN!
Well this seems to be a good breaking point. Hopefully post 3 won't take me as long to get up!

Remembering the little things (continued)

(I started this post on Friday but am just now finishing it!)

The post I wrote last night was very lengthy and yet I didn't get all of the "little things" in it! There are just so many sweet little things they do, I don't know if I'll ever get them all written down. Well this morning when I gave them their bottles I remembered more of their adorable quirks. Like the way they hold their legs up in the air while they are drinking their bottle, they also rotate their ankles to make their feet "dance" and it is just so cute. Or the way they are always dancing! I think we will either have little musicians or dancers or even BOTH, they just love music! Any time one of their toys starts playing music they start grooving, whether it is a shake of the head or a bounce or a little waist wiggle, they let their body move to the music. I'm going to make a point to get them music and dance lessons. We've also discovered that they love to bounce! Especially when we throw them up in the air or make it seem like they are jumping on our bed, they just giggle and smile so big. I even started putting pillows on the ground for them to play on. They'll sit on them and bounce and lay on them and let their head hang over or roll around. Maybe for their next birthday we will do a bounce house! Have I mentioned how much they love couches? Notice I didn't say "our" couch, because I think they just love any big cushioned thing. They go crazy when we set them on a couch (we stay to make sure they don't fall off, I don't want you thinking we just set them on a couch and leave) they crawl all over and lean over the edge (we've had to catch them a few times before they landed head first) and stand up just to fall on their bottom. It's like it's their own little jungle gym. Oh and naptime. They are so good to me. All I have to do is set them down in their crib and walk out and usually within 30 minutes they have played themselves to sleep. I even have to go in there to move their legs out from under them every now and then. It's like someone flipped a switch and they fell face first over their legs (imagine you sitting cross legged and then leaning straight forward fell asleep) sounds pretty uncomfortable so I move their legs, that and I'm afraid their leg(s) will fall asleep and then wake them up. Kind of ironic isn't it? The leg falls asleep but wakes the baby up. :) Also the way my little Addie goes head first into the bumper to sleep. They both like to snuggle with the bumper, but Addie takes it to a whole new level. She crawls into the corner until her head hits the bumper, and then drops (literally) and falls asleep. And every now and then I catch her using the bumber like a pillow. Since it can be squished down she just lays on the part sticking out.

They have also become very good players of Peek-a-boo! They just squeal when I "fluff" a blanket in the air and make it land on them. They will even wait for me to say, "Where's Reagan/Addie?" Then they pull the blanket off really quick with a big ol grin. They'll even put the blanket/towel/burp cloth over their head and wait a second before they pull it off quickly waiting for us to say "peek-a-boo!" I'm pretty sure I mentioned that the girls were getting better about signing (and knowing what it means) and I think somehow Reagan has started signing her own thing. She puts her thumbs on her head with her other fingers splayed out like antlers. I've been trying to get a picture but haven't had any luck yet, and I haven't figured out what it means either...still working on that one.

Hopefully this coming Tuesday I'll have a chance to sit down and work on a photo post, but I've started going to Sew 'n Sew meetings at the church. It's mainly for banners and such for the church, but it's a way for me to help the church and probably learn quite a few tips as well! Anyways that is Tuesday mornings after I drop the girls off at Mother's Day Out, so I only have two hours left to work on other things (here lately it's been planning the girls' birthday party and figuring out what crafts I want to do for it) and any big time cleaning of the house (vacuuming, scrubbing, laying a patio, etc.) Which I'll also have to post pictures of our back patio that we are thisfar from finishing! Again, pictures to come. ;)

Where has the time gone?

It really is true how time seems to fly by. Everyone always says, "Enjoy it now, because tomorrow you'll be taking them to college!" Or something to that extint. Today (January 12th) marks the girls 11 month day, and I am amazed at how fast it flew by. I can honestly say that it really does feel like just yesterday that I was a sleep deprived zombie hugging a pillow that I thought was a swaddled baby. So to mark this last month before we hit the "years" I've decided I wanted to do a "remembering the small things" post. A post where I write out all the adorable little things they do that keep me smiling, so that later when I'm an empty nester and trying not to get in the car to go to whatever college (ahem Texas A&M) they decide to attend, I will be able to remember these things and smile (and more than likely cry, because I'm crying while typing this). There won't be as many pictures in this post because it isn't very easy to get the girls to do their little things once they see the camera. I swear that as soon as I turn it on and it makes it's little start up sound, they whip their little heads around and quit doing whatever cute thing they were doing. Guess I'll just have to try and describe some of them.

The thing I want to remember most is that look of complete love in their eyes when they look at me (speaking personally because, well I can only see through my eyes). It's like they don't care about anything going on around them, they just want to see me looking back at them and smiling. And those beautiful smiles that I receive in return. They just melt my heart daily. Both of my girls have just the most adorable smile while still being unique to themselves. They truly are little people now, they can all but walk by themselves (they are getting SO close!) They want to eat our food now, and less of their baby food with the exception that they still love their bottle. But if I'm eating or even in the kitchen where they think I am eating they start throwing a fit because they want to be eating it too! I've even had to start baking extra biscuits in the morning because I know that they together will eat at least one of mine. Oh and we can't forget the juice. My sweet Addie has taken to the juice like no other. She will down her sippy cup and then find (or take) her sister's, she loves it! She knows how to stand up and tilt her head back to get the juice to her mouth, and every now and then she will throw her head back drink then bring her head back to normal just to do it all again. And they are both getting so good at signing. They do very will mimicking me, all I have to say is "pattycake" and they both start clapping, and when I wave at them they wave back. Addie is a two handed, splayed fingers waving side to side (like she's washing something) and Reagan is a loose wrist waver sometimes with one hand other times with both. And it is a hoot when you start clapping excitedly and saying "yay!" or some other happy exclaimation, they both go crazy! Adalyn especially will start clapping wildly, opens her mouth as big as she can and squeals! Reagan is just happy smiling, laughing, and clapping along (I think she just thinks WE are funny!) Speaking of Reagan, she has made up her own game of "catch me if you can," I'm not sure what started it, but I noticed it here lately that she was crawling away from me when I was reaching for her. For example she would spit up and I would get up to get a rag and when I would go to wipe it away, she would start crawling as fast as she could in the other direction. At first I was slightly annoyed because it usually meant that she was getting her spit up all over her and the floor, but then I realized she was LAUGHING at me. She was playing tag! So one day after Rush got home from work I was showing him what I figured out and it was the most fun! Reagan would crawl some distance away (laughing), stop to see how close I was (or to make sure I was coming), and then squeal and crawl some more (still laughing.) Rush got such a kick out of it, I think he was laughing as hard as Reagan. She has also started this new head shaking thing. I'm not sure where that came from either. Watch the video I posted and you'll see what I mean. It's soo stinkin' cute and she'll do it if Rush and I shake our heads at her. I'm pretty sure Addie just thinks we're all crazy, but she's the one who has perfected the raspberry. She loves to just sit there and "ppppptttttttttttt" "pppptttttttttt" "pppttttt" all day long. She even knows that the best time to do it is when it is absolutely hear-a-pin-drop quiet in church. On January 1st we had the girls baptized at the church we've joined over in Castroville, and I believe it was during a prayer, when Addie just let out a big ol raspberry and had everybody giggling and trying not to laugh. It was adorable.

Did I mention how smart my babies were? Well we usually barracade them into the living room with large pillows off of our couch, but recently we had to up the size because they figured out how to climb over them! And that's not even my "smart baby" point! One day I was in the office on the computer (probably looking at pinterest for ideas for the girls birthday :)) when I heard a "slap slap" of little hands on tile. So I was quiet for a bit, I wanted to see/hear where they were going to go, and I'll be darned if they didn't bypass all the fun of our room, the dining room, the kitchen, the bathroom, and their room and head straight to the game/guest room where they have more toys! They truly are their daddy's daughters because they knew exactly where they wanted to go and how to get there. Other babies would have gotten lost on the way (I'm just saying.) ;)

I need to video their laughs and smile, I don't have the best memory and I just know it will be a faint memory once their older. I love that they are so playful and animated and just love to be hanging out with mommy, because if time keeps flying by I know soon it won't be so "cool" to hang out with me. I love that they don't care how many times I kiss them or squeeze them, they just smile back at me with "I love you too Mommy" written all over their face. These girls amaze me everyday and make me thankful that God trusted me enough to give them to me. Adalyn and Reagan you are more loved than you will ever know.

You could use a laugh...

I just so happened to have my camera near by when Reagan started doing this new dance of hers. It's so stinkin' adorable you can't help but laugh and smile while watching them. Oh Reagan is in the white onsie, Adalyn is in the pink onsie. ENJOY!

10 & 11 months! Post 1 of ?

Better late than never right?! And they haven't made it to the 11 month mark yet so I'm still good. :) Anyways a lot has happened since their last monthly post. The girls survived loved their first holiday season! They really don't know a stranger and love to climb on anyone who will let them. They have become very accomplished cruisers and can fly around our little ottoman if they see something they want! And since Christmas both girls have each taken their first unassisted steps! Reagan was surprisingly first (she is usually a week behind Adalyn in most milestones) and she took her steps at Rush's grandparent's home in Waco on Dec. 29th, Adalyn took hers this past Monday Jan. 2nd. We haven't seen very many since then, they still get unsure of themselves and sit down to crawl to us if there isn't anything to hold on to. Also they each have FOUR teeth coming in! It's their front top four, which is changing their smiles dramatically, and have been causing them to be pretty uncomfortable at times. Most other times though, my girls are all smiles, laughs, and screeches. I have some very adorable video of Reagan's newest dance, I might save it for it's own post though. ;) Anyways here are the pictures and as always I will try and describe where we are and what is going on in it.

Addie found that she can crawl under her toy!
My poor Reagan was just soo tired, that even pulling her out of her car seat and sitting her next to Adalyn didn't wake her up!
Addie is looking at me like, "Mom will you please tell her I am NOT a pillow!"
Their adorable "Mooney" dresses! My Mom and Aunt Eileen took a button of Mooney's and sewed them on the girls' dresses. Mooney passed away while I was still pregnant and before we knew they were going to be girls. This might be Adalyn...
Pretty sure this is Reagan...their bows were removed before I took the pictures!
She did this to herself! Almost like camoflauge in the dark.
They are so cute! And we should've BTHO tu. Such a dissappointing season. Bah!
House divided
Adalyn improvised and made her own pillow!
 So sweet :)
Adalyn found her tounge! This was right after we got home from Thanksgiving. She just started sticking it out and laughing, so I would stick mine out and we'd all laugh at each other!
 Precious girl
Reagan takes after her Momma, when she smiles really big she squints!
There are those pretty eyes! :)
Can you see Addie's tounge? She is sticking it straight out!
I can't look at this one without smiling and laughing out loud :)
We're going to have to get the girls onesies that say, "We're the reason Mom & Dad can't have nice things." I'm not sure how they managed this, I'm just glad I got the piece before they put it in their mouth.
Literally two seconds later they show me how they did it...
 Behold the bigger tear...
And the hole is currently even bigger. Pictures to come.

TO BE CONTINUED....I have to go pick the girls up from Mother's Day Out now so more pictures and stories are to come (I am no where near finished with this post!) I hope you enjoyed these!

New Year Resolution?

I'm not sure why we ALL seem to wait until January 1st to realize what we need to change in our lives, maybe it's just a starting point that everyone seems to agree on. Either way I am guilty of waiting too. This year my main goal is to (drum roll please).............(SURPRISE!) blog more! :) Lately with the girls being more active I have set aside less time to sit and blog and post pictures. So please feel free to remind me (nicely please!) of my resolution if I start to waver for any long length of time! Don't laugh but this is going to have to wait until tomorrow when the girls are in Mother's Day Out.
