I tend to get a little ahead of myself...

Ok so I posted about our trip home to Texas before posting about the girls' first trip to the beach! The NC beaches are probably what I'll miss the most, they are so beautiful! *And that's where I found my Megaladon tooth!* Anyways, the summer before we had the girls' Rush and I took the dogs just about every weekend to the beach to let them run free and enjoy swimming in the ocean. Since the girls were born, lets just say that the dogs really missed their weekend outings. We did try and take the dogs and the girls once but the wind was just too crazy and we couldn't even roll down the windows without letting a sand dune in Rush's truck. Finally since we were only a few weeks from leaving NC we decided that we needed to make sure we set time aside to take the girls, get their feet wet, and get pictures (of course) of it all. Our friends were nice enough to offer to take pictures of the whole process! *These pictures were taken May 22, 2011!*

Loved their swimsuits that Mimi got them for Easter! Just wish they were able to wear them more.
The hats were a one size fits all (ha!) so the girls are still working on growing into them.

Two 3 month olds + 1,500 miles = 1 Baskin Adventure!

Well it's about time I posted about this adventure and our two wonderful travelers!

Our adventure started when we got our orders to be stationed at SAN ANTONIO (there is a small detachment of Marines on Lackland AFB.) It was a very happy surprise that we got stationed in San Antonio, we honestly weren't even expecting to be stationed in Texas. It just goes to show that God works in his own way! :)

Well it took us a total of 28 total driving hours over the course of 2.5 days. We stopped at every state line to get the girls out and let them stretch and to take a picture! Rush and I took turns being the one holding them and being the one taking the picture. The first night we spent in Newnan, GA with Rush's cousin Christy (THANK YOU for housing us Christy! We always enjoy getting to see and visit with y'all!) After GA we pushed on for the longest drive and made it to Waxahachie (after stopping at Whataburger (big surprise) in Marshall to eat with Mattie J!) We enjoyed Waco and Waxahachie Friday and seeing family, the girls especially loved getting to meet their cousins! Saturday I braved the open road by myself with the two girls and drove down to College Station (I was meeting my parents and going to a wedding) while Rush and a group of his buddies went to Lake Whitney for Matt's batchelor party. Sunday we made it to San Antonio/Somerset! The girls met most of their other cousins Sunday afternoon.

Well enough talk, here are the pictures! :)

On the road again...
First stop: South Carolina! (We didn't think to try and get a picture with North Carolina.)
We were greatly disappointed by Georgia's lack of welcome sign...so this is what we had to make do with.
Cousin Christy enjoying the girls! :)
Now Alabama knows how to welcome you!
Rush couldn't pass up this sign! We should all dare to defend our rights!

Mississippi brings us that much closer to Texas!
This reststop was, surprisingly, very nice! Would've been great if their ginormous bugs would've left us alone.
 TEXAS!!!!
Dinner with Mattie J, he's holding Addie J!
Any one wanna take a guess on who picked where we were eating??? ;)
Now holding Reagan. Sure looks like he wants one of his own...
Great Grandmom meets her number 4 & 5 granddaughters! :)

Hope you enjoyed! More Baskin adventure updates to come (hopefully soon!)

Our Anniversary Road Trip!

I'm trying to catch up from where I left off before we moved halfway across the country. This is from back in May.

Rush and I have decided that every year to celebrate our marriage that we would take a trip. Our first anniversary we went to Hawaii for our "real" honeymoon, and since we've had TWO additions to our family we also decided that they were going to mostly be family trips every year. Maybe for the 5th, 10th, 15th, etc. we'll go somewhere by ourselves, but for all the others we are going to go somewhere as a family. That being said, for our second anniversary we decided to take the girls on their first roadtrip up the NC coastline to see the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. It was only a day trip, but we really enjoyed it! The girls did great and also went on their first ferry ride. I'll just post the pictures, they say a lot more than I can (and I'm not going to kid myself, the pictures are why you're here!) ;)

Stretching our legs and waiting for the ferry (and our 2 hour ferry ride!) It was very windy so we all had trouble keeping our eyes open for the picture. :) *Sidenote: see the outfits the girls are wearing? We were asked if one was a boy because she was in blue! It has FLOWERS on it! Seriously? I will give the guy the fact that he was old and that I didn't have bows on their head. I'm just glad he didn't ask if they were twins! Yes that is THE most common question I get!

We got one of the best places on the ferry!
 Reagan in the mirror :)
 Adalyn in the mirror :)
The ferry route is on our gps!
Keeping the girls company
 Land HO! :)
We wanted to eat here, but they were closed :(
What we came for!
What good is a tiny lighthouse???
Just kidding! ;P I love my little family!
 Another beautiful NC beach!
 Amazing view off the bridge!
Bodie lighthouse! Too bad we didn't plan enough time in to stop.
