December in review

Ok, since they (medical personel) don't think I'll be making it another week, I figured I'd better get December taken care of. I'm sorry if it isn't in as much detail or if I forget some stuff (I'm claiming "Mommy Brain" which is medically proven because the babies are taking a majority of my blood meaning less to my brain.) ANYWAYS, back to December.

December started off with a 2nd Marine Division Christmas Party (the pictures of Rush in a suit and me in the pink dress with black cardigan) which was a lot of fun and I enjoyed getting to dress up and wear the pretty dress!
The next weekend we had a 5/10 Christmas Party which was a large gathering of people (we knew only a handful) but we were both still glad we went. We got to see and catch up with some people we hadn't seen in a while and I got to decorate Christmas cookies! I know I'm a kid at heart. :)
December 15th Rush celebrated his 26th BiRtHdAy! We didn't get to have a party or anything because December was so busy and also because there wasn't many friends here at the time. Instead I treated him to Outback Steakhouse where we had dinner and dessert with another couple that we hang out with on a weekly basis. It was fun except for some reason they took FOREVER on our food, so they said they would comp us dessert. All four of us proceeded to order our own dessert! :) Hey, you gotta get the most out of it and they serve Blue Bell ice cream. ;) The only problem with that was that I had bought Rush a cookie cake and had thought we would all eat that for dessert. Oh well. The guys at Rush's office enjoyed the cookie cake.
The weekend after Rush's bday there was a 5/10 Officer's Christmas Party, that I went to without Rush (he was away on Marine Business) but still enjoyed myself. There was tons of food and a lot of the wives I hadn't seen in a while so I was happy to spend some time with them. :)
Also the weekend marked the end of my Administrative Assistant position. I am no longer a working woman, but a woman trying to finish getting ready for her babies, and resting up so that those babies don't decide to try and get here early!
Luckily that was the end of the social parties. At some point during all of this I managed to talk Rush into putting lights up on the house and bringing in the Christmas tree for me to decorate. It was weird being away from family knowing Christmas was only a few away. I made cookies and we went to Christmas Eve service, and then had a Christmas breakfast with Rush's aunt, uncle, and cousins and a Christmas lunch/dinner with some friends who were also staying here for Christmas. It was a very nice Christmas, but Rush and I agreed that it didn't feel like Christmas since both of us were used to being around a large amount of family and festivities. Of course the main thing was that we remembered what CHRISTmas was all about and celebrated that.
Not long after Christmas we got two special visits from Jean (Rush's mom) and Quinn (Rush's brother) for a few days. Jean was able to go with us to a dr appt and see the girls on ultrasound in Wilmington, and as a group we went to Mike's Farm and enjoyed family style dining. Rush and Quinn enjoyed playing a round of golf on the golf course here on base, and overall we just enjoyed having family around.
We brought in the new year with Quinn and another couple but were all in bed around 12:30! And to think that just a few years ago we would've been out partying until the sun came up (not literally, but you get the idea.)

Well that was my summary of December! I hope you all enjoyed. :) I'll be trying to get some more posts up in the next few days since I have dr appts tomorrow and the next day. Of course if the girls decide they want to come this week, I might not get those posts up! And just to let you know where I am coming from and why I am saying this I'll tell you about my Non-Stress Test that I had today.
Okay so today was my second NST (Non-Stress Test), and I will continue to get them weekly until the girls arrive. They only give NSTs to med and high risk pregnancys, and I am considered higher risk because the girls are sharing a placenta (they are worried about the placenta getting worn out). It's nothing invasive, they just sit me in a reclining chair and strap those external monitors to my belly so they can get the girls' heartrates and my contractions (if I have any) on paper. It's the same monitor that women get hooked up to when they are in labor. After about 20-30 minutes if they feel they have a good read on the girls' heartrates they then take me off and do an ultrasound. In the ultrasound they are working to get a picture of the membrane seperating the girls with fluid on both sides. Once they get this they take it to a provider (dr) and if he signs off on it, I get to go home. NOW the whole reason I am saying that I might not get to post this week, is the RN that gave me my NST today said she would be surprised if I saw her next week for another NST. She believed that I would be giving birth before next Monday. Of course this is just her (professional) opinion, and I've been doing really well at surprising all my drs by coming in pregnant each week! So I'm taking this more as a challenge and hope to prove her wrong. And of course if the girls' are determined to come, there will be nothing I can do to stop them. :)

Until next post, take care!

  1. Boy, I can find out so much more than on the phone! Didn't know you had so many parties. Hope you enjoyed because next time you will be looking for babysitters. Oh, never mind, I guess there will be a few available.
